The Berkeley Lake Homeowners Association requested, and City Council approved, a plan to lower the lake water level to 6 feet below full pool beginning on January 5, 2026. When that level is achieved, the level will then be allowed to return naturally. Allowing for some rain, this is expected to provide at least 3 weeks at a level of at least 4 feet below full pool. The City of Berkeley Lake is in the process of updating its zoning and development regulations along with working with the Georgia Tech Urban Design Studio on the creation of a master plan for the Peachtree Industrial Boulevard corridor.

The City of Berkeley Lake adopted the 2024 update to the comprehensive plan on February 8, 2024. Following a public hearing held on November 16, 2023, the city transmitted the
plan to the Atlanta Regional Commission for review.
